FAQ: The basics

Moot summary
So what is this good for? Conversation. Talk talk talk, back and forth. In real time, or not - the conversation can be going on for weeks. And the information is really easy to retrieve afterwards.

More specifically; Plan a trip. Tip your friends about good restaurants. Discuss tv (while you're watching). Chat about a project at work. Be private. Or public if you want.

And you don't have to be tracked, monetized, owned or sold.

You can attach stuff like links, images and locations to your posts. Paste your link in the posts and they will be automatically linked. Youtube links and image links etc. will be embedded.

You can upload an image (in most browsers) by clicking "add an image" under the post text area. It pops up a small preview and if you change your mind you can delete it right there.

Same thing goes for location. Click "add a location" and a map with a pin, and also a small preview appears. Move the pin or search for an address to attach the right position. On mobile (if your browser supports geolocation) you can add your current location.

The uploaded images are not protected in any way, so they are potentially accessible to everyone on the web.

On your main page you see all the moots you're participating in (with activity in the last few months), and the latest post from every moot. If you click on it you'll go to the moot page - where you can see the whole discussion.

You can hide moots in user settings http://moot.ly/user/settings if you don't want them to appear on your main page.

You invite people directly when you start a moot, or afterwards on the moot page. A moot is private as default, which means that only the persons listed in the left column can view and post in your moot.

They can invite more participants, if you as a moot owner don't actively say no to that - in the user settings: http://moot.ly/user/settings
